Historie
The Eastern Suburbs Rugby League Football Club — now the Sydney Roosters — were one of the founding clubs of rugby league in 1908, representing the affluent eastern suburbs of Sydney. The club won their first premiership in 1911 and went on to build one of the most successful records in the history of the competition, winning 15 titles across the NSWRL, ARL, and NRL eras. The Roosters have been known by various names across their history — Eastern Suburbs, the Roosters — but the tricolour of red, white, and blue has remained constant.
The modern era has been particularly successful. Under coach Trent Robinson, the Roosters won back-to-back NRL premierships in 2018 and 2019 — the first club to achieve the feat since the Brisbane Broncos in 1992 and 1993 — with a team featuring James Tedesco, Luke Keary, and Boyd Cordner. The 2018 title was won with a famous performance from Latrell Mitchell in the grand final, and the 2019 victory confirmed the Roosters as the dominant team of the era. The club plays at the redeveloped Allianz Stadium in Moore Park — one of the finest venues in Australian sport.
